Ian always keeps his eye on the horizon. He wants to know what’s headed his way and figure out his next move so he can take advantage of every opportunity. By staying agile and excited about challenges, he has attracted a dynamic, capable team who are eager to find creative ways to do their best work.
Born and raised in Sussex, New Brunswick, Ian completed the Civil Engineering Technology program at NBCC in Moncton before settling in Calgary in 1997. After 10 years refining his leadership style as a project manager, he moved to Edmonton, where he became general manager of Doublestar. In 2010, he proudly accepted the role of president, and he became chief executive officer in 2013.
Ian is passionate about creating a strong, innovative company that can consistently deliver quality results on jobs of any size. His commitment to continuous improvement and meeting challenges head-on is fuelled by his drive to be an industry leader.
Whenever possible, Ian enjoys getting away to his cabin in New Brunswick to relax into lake living with his family.

As Director of Operations, with almost 40 years in the construction industry, Garth’s career has given him the opportunity to oversee some of the largest flagship projects in Canada’s industry including industrial, oil and gas, sawmills, airports, museums, office towers, bridges, and civil infrastructure. These opportunities have allowed him to safely plan logistically plan, schedule, and evaluate risk while completing these projects successfully.
His construction career started as a carpenter and concrete finisher in his teens, he continued his education and became a journeyman carpenter as well as receiving his Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from SAIT. Garth continued his education at Algonquin College for Project Management, Contract Management, Law and Estimating. Along with all his experience, Garth is a Gold Seal Certified Superintendent, a Certified AutoCAD, and Primavera P6 Instructor, as well as taught land surveying at the UBC Okanagan University.
Garth believes in team building as much of his success has come from the creation of strong teams with the client, consultants, and the onsite workforce. This along with his vast construction experience, the position of Director of Operations allows Garth to interact every day from boots on the ground to meeting rooms with clients and consultants.
When time allows for Garth to relax, he travels with his wife, visiting his children and grandchildren or you can find him in working in his workshop enjoying woodworking.

Rob has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, with over 10 + years specializing in anchors, piling and micropiles. Rob focuses on opportunities for the company to grow and operate effectively and prides himself on building strong relationships and ensuring all crews on the ground have the support they need. Rob is responsible for Doublestar’s every day activities, including managing over 100 employees and a diverse fleet of equipment to ensure the operational aspects run efficiently and effectively. Rob has an innate ability to organize and coordinate his team, making him a huge asset to Doublestar Drilling and its clients.
When Rob is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and his dog, paintballing and travelling the world.
Shaun is responsible for the overall management of Doublestar Drilling’s Edmonton region. His focus is on finding and creating new growth opportunities, strengthening client relations, and ensuring best in class performance on projects. Shaun’s industry experiences, drive, and leadership qualities ensure that Doublestar Drilling will continue to safely deliver projects on time and on budget for our valued clients.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Shaun started work in the construction industry as a laborer in the early 1990s and worked his way up to a superintendent role. His natural curiosity and desire for more knowledge and responsibility led him to the Civil Engineering Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where he graduated with honors in 2001. After graduation from NAIT Shaun worked for an engineering consultant in the land development field for three years before moving into the foundation piling industry.
When Shaun is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, listening to music and casual gaming.

As Saskatchewan region manager at Doublestar Drilling, John focuses his energy on business development, working with general contractors and developers in the area. This includes sourcing proposed work, preparing projects, and reviewing bids and contracts. For day-to-day operations, he oversees the scheduling of manpower and equipment for all jobs in Saskatchewan.
John draws from years of experience working with Ground Engineering Group of Companies and as a manager within foundation pile contracting companies to provide expert advice to Doublestar Drilling’s clients. He finds motivation in facing and solving challenging projects and being able to confidently deliver a solid foundation for clients to build on.
Born and raised in Regina, John spends his free time getting active outdoors and with his family. An avid hockey player, he also volunteers in his community coaching hockey and baseball.

Tyler believes that a workplace should be challenging and a place of opportunity for everyone, this is an important piece of Doublestar Drilling’s positive culture and environment. As a General Manager, he oversees many of the large piling and shoring projects in the Alberta, BC and Ontario regions. He also leverages his past experience in construction management lending an advantage to Doublestar with industry best practices and is always focused on solutions for DSD clients regardless of their size.
Driven by the opportunity to be involved in the dynamic world of large scale foundations and shoring, Tyler is always looking for a new way to make work more efficient and cost effective for all parties involved.
When outside of work, he loves to spend time with his wife and children. Whenever possible, he gets outdoors to enjoy backcountry snowboarding in the winter and fishing and hiking in the summer.
