The 19m deep Secant Pile Wall was incorporated into the engineered flood mitigation system, as the parkade is 4 levels below the banks of the Bow River.
The secant piles are 1m in diameter and interlocked 20cm to provide decreased permeability of ground water from the Bow River.
Segmental casing was used for the entire depth due to the ground water and gravel soil conditions. The piles were installed by Doublestars Liebherr LB36 and Liebherr LB28 drill rigs.
As a result of the projects success Doublestar Drilling became a highly preferred contractor of the geotechnical engineering firm representing the owner.
