Soldier Pile and Shotcrete with Tieback Anchors Shoring System
- Project Details
The project began on June 13th, 2016, and the University required the shoring and excavation to be completed before September 1st, 2016. With the aggressive schedule, construction traffic & congestion on site was high. The shoring scope included 279 soldier piles installed to depths between 5.2m and 17.6m, these were completed in less than 8 weeks using two crews and Liebherr LB24 & LB28 drill rigs. In early July, DSD started the installation of 161 anchors over two rows using two Davey Kent 725 anchor rigs, each anchor had an average length of 13m, and shooting 2300m2 of reinforced shotcrete face. The anchoring and shotcrete scopes were completed in 6 weeks, exceeding the schedule by two weeks. All anchors were multi-staged post grouted and successfully tested to 133% of the design capacity.
DSD’s ability to plan and execute were key to completing the shoring scope of work on schedule and were viewed by the client and the owner as a key reason for the successful completion of our work.
